Student Support
Are your students missing out on Student Support? Are some of your European Union national students getting fees only support when they could be getting the whole package, including student allowances such as disabled students’ allowance?
This course will give structures to help you spot those students who may be eligible for Student Support or who may have been wrongly refused it. It will also equip you with processes and tactics for challenging incorrect refusals.
Workshop aim
To offer a firm basis for identifying students’ eligibility for Student Support and for feeling confident about challenging incorrect refusals
Course objectives
Participants will be able to:
- identify students who are eligible for Student Support with regard to the criteria based on nationality, immigration status and residence
- identify when a student may have been incorrectly refused Student Support
- challenge incorrect refusals of Student Support

Course details
This course is suitable for:
International student advisers who wish to develop their understanding
of Student Support eligibility; generalist welfare/student advisors who
are relatively new to the field of student advice; disability advisors
who wish to develop their understanding of Student Support eligibility
in order to secure DSA funding for students
