Tier 4 students: work during and after study
International students may wish to undertake part-time work, vacation work, paid or unpaid work experience, or volunteering. Some courses have required or optional work placements or internships. The first part of this course clarifies the rules for Tier 4 migrants about all types of working during studies.
Tier 1 Post Study Work will close to new applications in April 2012, and international graduates who wish to work in the UK after their studies will need to look to other immigration routes, such as sponsored graduate-level work under Tier 2 General ,or temporary work under Tier 5. The second part of this course looks at these work categories, and others that allow students to either stay in the UK to work, or to come back to the UK in the future.
Some opportunities for staying on to work after study relate to those who have studied at degree level, the second part of the course will usually be more relevant to those working in higher education.
By the end of this course, participants will be:
- advise students and employers or other providers about work entitlements during study
- give advice about the various immigration options for students to stay on for work after study, or to return and work in the future
- help students identify options that are relevant to them
- give practical advice on the main immigration and procedural requirements
- signpost students to the resources they need for their application
This course is suitable for:
