About our immigration courses

  1. OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) and CPD (continuing professional development)
  2. Points Based System (PBS)

1. OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) and CPD (continuing professional development)

None of our courses are accredited for the purposes of OISC’s CPD scheme. Those covered by the ‘block exemption’ for the publicly-funded education sector are not subject to OISC’s CPD scheme.

2. Points Based System (PBS)

Tier 4 of PBS, which concerns students, is due to be introduced in Spring 2009.

Whilst UKCISA, colleague agencies and institutions’ representatives will continue to make strenuous efforts to persuade the UK Border Agency (UKBA) to plan properly – including consulting effectively on draft application forms, guidance and law and finalising these at least a month or two before implementation – we may experience a confusing rush similar to when Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) was introduced at the end of June 2008.

Either way, UKCISA’s Advice and Training Team will need to analyse the new law, guidance and forms quickly, seek clarification from UKBA on any ambiguities and apparent drafting errors, process all this into appropriate E-news, web and Briefing items, design new courses, book training venues and advertise the courses – all simultaneously!

That’s why our immigration courses on this programme so far are limited to just two ‘Basic immigration’ courses at the start of the programme – these are for those of you who are relatively new to immigration advice for students and who need to know about the current system over the next few months.
